Friends Of The Deep Sound

Mauro lives in Udine, a small town in the Northeast of Italy. Music is one of his big passions together with reading, design and outdoor activities (especially at the seaside).
Since he was a kid he started to know and get interested in to black, funky, prime house music and film soundtracks, mainly listening to the radio.
His curiosity is captured by programs which broadcast music non-stop, where music is mixed together and the change between one song and the other is almost imperceptible.
He thus starts learning and experimenting mixing techniques, listening to a lot of music of any type. Being eclectic is one of his peculiarities.
In those years, watching a TV program, “Te lo dò io il Brasile", he discovers Brazil, its people and, above all, its music. He is fascinated by its rhythms and colours.
He starts collecting vinyl records, mainly house and underground music, and to work occasionally as a freelance DJ.
Mauro prefers smooth rhythms, more adapted to be listened to than to dance on. His mixing technique is overwhelming. He uses three record players simultaneously and his music choice falls prevalently on instrumental and percussion music, with a preference for Brazilian and Latin rhythms. He offers is very refined, niche music, not always appreciated or understood.
His favourite radio (in Italy) was, without discussion, Radio Italia Network: a young radio, innovative and attentive to American and Spanish new trends, where also the adverts were unique.
His major satisfactions arrive in the second half of the 90s, when house music becomes very popular in Italian discos and music bars. Occasions as freelance and resident DJ do not lack.
A peculiarity of his DJ sets is that of utilising two identical records and mixing their different versions together, creating unusual atmospheres and unique sounds with the same song.
At present his work can be listened in several live sets in Italy, Austria, Slovenija and, of course, Brazil, country that, as it would be expected, has fiercely entered his future!
